Applejack Announces Reopening Dates of Restaurants

Following the NSW Government’s unveiling of Sydney’s Roadmap to Freedom, we have re-opened our reservations for fully vaccinated guests to dine at our restaurants and bars! Bookings are back open from late October.

Opening Dates:
Monday 18th October: The Butler Potts Point, SoCal Neutral Bay, The Botanist Kirribilli and Forrester’s Surry Hills
Wednesday 20th October: Bopp & Tone, June’s Shoppe and Hester’s Cafe
Thursday 28th October: Tap Rooms

We have been reminiscing about the small moments that make up the hospitality experience. Watch our #Applejab video and get ready to relive your favourite dining out memories. Our freedom to enjoy together time at Applejack is only a jab away!

We’re proud to announce that we have raised a total of $22,500 as part of our Food Sales for Staff initiative across So_Cal Neutral BayThe Butler Potts Point, The Botanist Kirribilli and Bopp & Tone!

The initiative is all about raising ‘food tips’ for Applejack staff who have done it tough over the past few months.

On Friday 14th August, our CBD restaurant Bopp & Tone opened it’s doors with the seasonal banquet provided on-the-house (excluding all drink sales), allowing customers to choose what they wish to pay for their food orders. With many Applejack supporters through the doors as well as Bopp & Tone regulars,  the restaurant raised a total of $5908, bringing the total tips of the initiative to $22,500.

All the monetary contributions raised will be pooled and shared equally, going directly to all returning Applejack employees that lost their income and weren’t eligible for government benefits.

Applejack to Launch Hester’s Cafe on Wednesday 12th August

We’re very excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Applejack family, Hester’s! You’ll find her at 60 Carrington St, Wynyard – neighbouring Bopp & Tone.

Pick up your morning coffee made with a glorious Gabriel coffee roast, alongside the finest classic breakfasts… we don’t mess around. If you’d like to be a bit fancy, dine in during lunch with food from the Bopp & Tone kitchen. Whether you’re in for a short time or for the long haul, there’s nothing wrong with a cheeky vino available from midday… But if you’re on the straight and narrow, coffee, tea, sparkling sodas and the like are available all day.

It’s been a wild few months but we’re hoping that our new café, bar & events space will provide a nice escape when you want a little bit of jazz in the jungle.

Applejack co-founders, Ben Carroll and Hamish Watts say: “We wanted to create an intrinsically Sydney experience within a unique and distinctive setting. Bopp & Tone, June’s Shoppe and now Hester’s, are a nod to our grandparents, who symbolise and embody the iconic and nostalgic Sydney of the past, which is reflected in the food and interiors of each venue. Food influences come from our chef’s passion for Mediterranean food and philosophies that translate so well with Australian ingredients and the Aussie way of life.”

Swing by and say hello to Wynyard’s newest First Lady, Hester.

Applejack supports #BlackOutTuesday

On Tuesday 2nd June 2020, Applejack posted a black square on all social media accounts with the hashtag #blackouttuesday.

It’s important that we share with you the reasons for us supporting the movement through our venue platforms as it’s a very significant message. The decision to post our support was not taken lightly. The topic has been spoken about at length within the our team and we decided that as a company we cannot stay silent for something that we strongly believe in. We do not tolerate racism, we support diversity, and we need to ensure we are creating an inclusive and educated environment through our business.

The black tile post was only a small step. We will withhold from posting our everyday content (eg Applejack promotional posts) for a week because we believe during this time, in particular, its important that BLM messages are the main focal point, without any distraction. We understand that this is an ongoing conversation, and we will continue to be actively anti-racist.

Knowledge is power, so we have and will spend countless hours researching and gaining relevant educational information that we’ll share on our platforms. By sharing we hope to contribute by educating and creating the change that is desperately needed.

We understand that this topic is sensitive for some, and we want to acknowledge and respect those people. Please take a moment to be kind to yourself and let’s continue to support one another ♡

Covid-19 Update: NSW Government announces 50-person dining rule from 1 June.

The NSW State Government announced today that restaurants, cafes and pubs will be allowed to welcome up to 50 diners at a time from 1st June 2020.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the “big and critical” step for the state, but said very strict rules would be in place for venues:

  • Venues will still have to allow at least four-square metres of space per person.
  • Additionally, bookings of more than 10 people will be banned, and patrons won’t be allowed to stand.

Applejack are thrilled with this step forward and are working hard to bring our reopening dates forward. The exact dates that we’ll reopen Applejack restaurants are yet to be finalised, but our first restaurant will reopen around mid-late June.

We are preparing the venues to adhere to the strict social distancing guidelines and during the next few weeks as we prepare to reopen, we’ll be busy restocking our fridges with fresh produce, getting staff back in venues, ensuring tables are a safe distance apart, organising our reservation process and implementing a new contactless menu viewing and ordering system, which all takes time to roll out after a full close down.

We’ll be staggering the reopening dates of our venues in order to stay financially stable and will release which venues will open on what dates as soon as it’s confirmed.

We cannot wait to have our wonderful staff back in venues and hosting our guests again, stay tuned for more updates soon.
