Our Top Sandwich Making Tips:

1. It all starts with the bread

“Come give it a try when you’re done hurting your mouth eating sourdough or ciabatta sandwiches” – Patrick Friesen.

Our secret to the perfect sandwich starts with thick, fluffy bread. Soft to eat, it allows you the perfect bite every time. When creating June’s menu, Patrick was inspired by King George’s Deli in Tokyo, with thickly cut beautifully big sandwiches. In Canada they call the thick-cut bread ‘Texas Toast’ – because everything’s bigger in Texas!

So the secret is out, start with soft fresh bread & you’re already halfway there to creating a masterpiece!

2. The art of layering

“Sandwiches are all about the perfect layering and the best quality ingredients” – Patrick Friesen.

Proper layering is key to achieving a well-structured and easy-to-eat sandwich. Start with your thicky cut bread, then layer on your proteins, cheeses, and any additional toppings. Spread sauces or condiments evenly to ensure every bite is flavourful.

June’s sandwiches are packed full of fillings, so proper layering is essential in making a sandwich that can keep it’s structure.

3. Balancing your flavours

“Junes is all about fresh bread sandwiches and so we picked the fillings that best matched our super soft bread…” – Patrick Friesen.

A great sandwich should have a harmonious blend of flavours. Consider combining ingredients that offer contrasting tastes and textures, such as sweet and savoury. Experiment with different spreads, sauces, and condiments to add depth and enhance the overall taste.

June’s Shoppe serves up some classic flavour combos including our fresh salad sandwich, BLT, and curried egg, while also serving up some new favourites including our mushroom melt and spicy fried chicken.
