International Women’s Day 2022

Applejack celebrates female leaders for International Women’s Day 2022.

Everyday we are celebrating the powerful, strong, determined & inspiring women who represent Applejack & those all over the world!

Imagine a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality, in all aspects of life & within the hospitality industry.

International Women’s Day is a reminder to…
1. Challenge gender stereotypes
2. Celebrate Women’s achievements
3. Forge an equal mindset
4. Call out gendered assumptions

When women support each other, incredible things happen!

Applejack places a high value on equality, and part of ensuring gender parity exists within the company, we encourage and empower women in hospitality to thrive in the industry and own leadership positions. Applejack continues to strive for gender equality, supporting all genders at all staffing levels, and boasts a balanced percentage of female leadership roles within the business.

Embracing this year’s International Women’s Day theme #breakthebias, Applejack celebrated its female leaders’ by hosting an inspiring lunch at Phylli’s, Forrester’s.

Guests included front and back of house teams at The Butler Potts Point, Bopp & Tone, Forrester’s, SoCal Neutral Bay and The Botanist Kirriblli.

After postponing the lunch due to extreme weather and covid concerns, we were so excited to finally host the female leaders of Applejack. La Niña took a break for the day, as the sun poured into Phylli’s garden, making for the perfect lunch spot. Guests were treated to a stunning spread of fresh, nourishing share plates prepared by Patrick Friesen.

We were joined by guest speaker Leah Simmons, founder of KAAIAA, the transformational workout that trains the 4 pillars of health. Leah is an experienced mind and body expert, who took the group through the four pillars of health and how we can harness these to become better leaders.

Leah spoke of the 4 qualities of a strong leader: Courage, Compassion, Communication, and Connection. We then finished the lunch with a challenging exercise of both the mind and body; holding our arms in the air for 8 minutes straight (trust us this is a lot harder than you think), Leah taught us how to unlock our own inner strength and how to push through the pain. It was an interesting perspective to gain and an inspiring exercise for all the Applejack women.

We have also worked with Leah for our current Mindful March campaign at The Botanist. Find out more about Leah and her philosophy here >

The morning aimed to motivate, empower and inspire the amazing females who are part of the Applejack family, further creating a positive and supportive company culture. It was great to catch up with women from all different venues and positions, further growing the bond of the wider Applejack team.
