Applejack commends female leaders for International Women’s Day 2020.
An equal world is an enabled world. Applejack places a high value on equality, and part of ensuring gender parity exists within the company, we encourage and empower women in hospitality to thrive in the industry and own leadership positions. Applejack continues to strive for gender equality, supporting all genders at all staffing levels, and boasts a balanced percentage of female leadership roles within the business.
As guests entered the restaurant they were greeted with a coffee in an Applejack SoL Cup, which they got to keep as a gift to take home, and treated to a stunning spread of pastries, breakfast rolls, fruit platters, mini quiches and breakfast sweets prepared by Bopp & Tone Head Chef Sa Va’afusuaga. A beautiful picnic set up on The Butler terrace set the scene for a relaxing morning overlooking Sydney’s city skyline view.
Guest speaker Shelly McElroy from Leading Teams, who has worked with Applejack to strengthen the company’s core leadership values, joined us for the morning. Shelly is an experienced Training and Development Consultant who has managed large teams up to 120 people in her previous roles as General Manager and Licensee – so she ‘gets’ hospitality!
A great strength of Shelly’s is her communication skills, inspiring others to understand how their communication affects others. Shelly told stories of her experience and took the group through a motivating visualisation technique to learn about core values, and how to use them in your own personal leadership style.
The morning aimed to motivate, empower and inspire the amazing females who are part of the Applejack family, further creating a positive and supportive company culture.
