Humans of Applejack: Ella Hall
We sat down for a chat with RAFI Assistant Venue Manager; Ella Hall.
After a move to Australia from the UK reignited her passion for hospitality, Ella is now helping lead the team in North Sydney.
Ella has been part of Applejack for over 3 years now, starting as a casual before last year stepping up to management. At the end of 2025 Ella impressed with a 98% score & distinction for Applejack in her Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines, a very notable feat & showcased her knowledge and passion for all things wine.

Let’s Chat…
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your experience in hospitality?
“My love affair with hospitality began with my very first job at my local pub when I was 16. I’ve dipped in and out of the industry over the years, but it wasn’t until I moved to Australia that I truly fell in love with restaurant hospitality. Joining RAFI reignited my passion for hospitality, working alongside such a talented team inspired me to take the next step in my career, and last year I accepted a management role there.”
What do you love about working in the hospitality industry?
“What I love most about hospitality is the sense of community and camaraderie you build with both your team and your guests. There’s honestly nothing quite like it. Creating connections with people through a shared love of great food and wine is what it’s all about.”
Why Applejack?
“A close friend recommended Applejack after telling me how they supported his team during the COVID pandemic. Applejack has consistently invested in, supported, and encouraged my development, whether that’s stepping into management or being given the opportunity to complete my WSET exams.”
Favourite Applejack memory?
“One of my favourite Applejack memories was a wine trip to South Australia. After achieving a great result in my WSET exams, I was lucky enough to be invited to visit some of the incredible wineries Applejack works closely with, an unforgettable experience.”
What's your go-to RAFI order?
“My go-to Rafi order is what I call the “holy trinity”: sourdough pita, hummus, and South Coast tuna. Fresh, fluffy bread dipped into sweet, creamy, spicy tuna… absolutely delicious.”
