Let’s get to know the man behind all things events at Taphouse.
Meet Achilleas; long-time Applejack legend who started his career as a Manager at Bopp & Tone and RAFI North Sydney, before making the move to managing Events at our Darlinghurst pub! Achilleas was recently awarded the coveted ‘Applejack Oracle’ award at our annual Applejack Staff Party, an award given to someone in the company who embodies all the Applejack values each & every day.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your experience in hospitality?
Hello, my name is Achilleas and I have been working in hospitality and events since 2009. I started my career in Greece managing performing arts events, then moved to London where I worked across a range of venues in both operations and events. After London, I moved to Sydney with my partner, where I was very fortunate to be welcomed in the Applejack family. I have worked at some amazing venues like Bopp & Tone and RAFI North Sydney before becoming the Events Manager at Taphouse.
What do you love about working in events in the hospitality industry?
I love the energy and creativity that comes with each & every event. I really enjoy working with people to bring their vision to life, whether it’s a corporate event, a birthday party, or something totally out of the box.
What makes Taphouse a great event venue?
Taphouse is incredibly versatile, which makes it perfect for all kinds of events. We have three levels, each with its own vibe. Whether you are after an indoor space, a sunny rooftop, or a full-venue takeover, we can tailor the space and experience to suit just about anything. Plus, the Cantonese menu always makes a great impression.
Why Applejack?
Applejack is a fun place to work where everyone is genuinely welcomed, guests and staff alike. Personally, I have always been supported and encouraged to grow, and that inclusive, down-to-earth culture is what makes Applejack special to me.
Favourite Applejack memory?
It’s hard to pick just one, but one of my favourite memories was during one of our busiest days last December, when all three levels of the venue were activated with large-scale events. Seeing the whole team working seamlessly together and the entire venue buzzing with guests having a great time was incredibly rewarding.
